chair. All families are welcome!
ANGELFOOD
We'll
be taking orders Sept. 12 for food to be picked up on Sept. 25. AngelFood can help stretch your grocery budget and is available to anyone
who would like to place an order. A regular box is $30; a
senior/convenience box is $28; an all new allergen-free box is $25. You can
pay cash for your order at the church. If you would like to pay by Bridge
card, you will need to place your order at New Hope Assembly of God Church,
Taylor. For more information, see Sue & Wally Holzhueter, Mary & Dale
Cantrell, Mary Ellen & John Mohn or Janet Schuler.
CEILING FUND
Remember the special ceiling-repair fund. Thus far, we have received $7,813.
We challenge you to eat at home one night per month when you usually go to a
restaurant. Calculate the money you saved (and the special time of bonding)
and put that toward the ceiling repair. Use the brown envelopes in the pews
for this offering.
"SHE READS" ABW CIRCLE

SMALL GROUP MINISTRY
If you are interested in
attending any of our groups, or starting one of your own, you can contact
the Church office.
More people are using the
DVD library, and we have new DVDs added every week.
The
Veggie-Tales are here!
Remember, there is no charge for the use of this service, you need only to
be a member of FBC. The listings are at the Welcome Center and on the
Bulletin Board.
If you haven’t seen our
members in action at the
Wyandotte Soup Kitchen,
you need to! I visited
them last week and I was impressed with the courtesy shown to the people,
the quality of the food served, and the people interacting with all the
patrons. It was amazing, for lack of a better word. Joan Zacharias, Dick
Thompson, Don & Louise Barbeau, Marty Zeld, Jean LeDuc, Theresa Lartz and
the rest were very professional interacting with all.
And not to be outdone,
The Food Pantry, providing groceries for those who are in need, is
professionally managed by John & Vernell Swift. However, this service is in
jeopardy because St. Pat’s doesn’t know if they can keep it open. Please be
in prayer for them and the people they serve.

YOUTH CORNER
SUNDAY Nights @ DRIVEN
ARE BACK!!! Starting
September 12 @ 6
p.m. we will begin meeting on Sunday evenings for our youth program. This
will be for students in 6th through 12th grade. I’m really looking forward
to this year for many reasons.
Because…
1.
God has been so faithful to us and I’ve seen His vision and guidance in
preparation for this year.
2. We
have some new volunteers that are training and getting ready to help with
our new small group format.
3. We
have the best students! I love getting to know them and their friends as we
grow together in the Lord.
I would love if you would
partner with us in praying for this ministry year and for our youth. If you
would like a specific youth to pray for and their needs, I will get that
info to you. It would be awesome if every youth had an adult that prayed
daily for them and encouraged them as they face a challenging year ahead.
On Wednesday, September
22, join us for National
See You at the Pole
day. Students are encouraged to gather at their school flag pole to pray
for their schools and community. The usual time is an hour before the
school start time, usually it’s 7 AM. That evening we will have our annual
1721/See You AFTER the Pole. We will meet at the church at 6:15 PM. We
should be back by 9 PM. Last year we had over 800 students across downriver
join us in the evening, many of which prayed that morning. This year we’ve
invited Seven Project to do some school assemblies during the week and
perform that evening. Don’t’ miss this exciting event for all students 6-12
grade.
If you have any questions
or are interested in partnering with us in prayer or other ways, please see
me!
In His Loving Strength,
Pastor Julie
FROM PASTOR JIM'S DESK
September has pounced on us out of nowhere. We just started June and
already September 1 is here. But, that’s o.k. We’ve had great experiences
this summer and now we are getting ready to jump-start our Fall
programming. How exciting!!
We
hope you’ll be here on Sunday mornings during the month of September. I’m
starting a new series based on the book “Satan and His Kingdom” by Dennis
McCallum. If you would like a copy of the book, let me know and we can
order some. Please be in prayer for me and for the church because these
messages will be ones that Satan does not want us to hear.
Pray
also for our new Leadership Team and our boards as they meet. Rich DePalma
is the chairperson of our Leadership Team. If you have questions or
concerns, please feel free to give him a call or see him in church.
Our
Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting continues to go strong. If you have a need
you’d like prayed for, please complete one of the forms in the back of the
church and we will incorporate that into our Wednesday meeting. Please note
that prayer requests will need to be updated on a regular basis.
Small
groups are starting and that’s exciting. Lots of other things are in the
planning stage and we look forward to you plugging into our programs as God
encourages you.
See
you in church,
Pastor Jim
“I
would like to thank you so much for the gift to the Memorial Fund of the
Church in memory of Jesse. I appreciated all of your prayers and cards. I
miss all of you and hope to see you in church one day soon.”
Love, Eunice Harris
“I
would like to thank Pastor Jim for his prayers and attendance during my
surgery. And a thank you for the prayers, cards and concerns I’ve
received.” — Don Barbeau
“We would like to express our appreciation to our church family. Your
thoughts, cards and prayers provided us with some much needed comfort in our
time of loss. These acts of kindness, along with Pastor Jim’s visit to the
hospital, were a blessing at a very difficult time. Please accept our
deepest and most sincere thanks.” — The Family of Howard Cantrell
DINNER AND BAKE SALE
Many thanks to all who
participated in the Fifth Sunday Dinner and Bake Sale. Kathy Mink, Dick
Thompson and their crew did a great job with the meal. Auctioneer Todd
Browning kept the funds coming in. We raised $1,688 between the dinner
and sale!! Those funds will help offset the loan we took out for the
ceiling repair. Many thanks to those who donated baked goods and supported
the endeavor financially!
